Rec League Officials and Scorekeepers

If you are a high school student and are interested in officiating any of our recreational basketball games, please email David Perry ([email protected]), LYBA’s Officials Coordinator, even if you have been an official in the past for LYBA.  You will need to complete an approved concussion information course and submit your certificate of completion.  A course link can be found on the Coaches Corner tab of the website.

LYBA officials will complete an availability spreadsheet and we will be scheduled accordingly about 1-2 weeks in advance.  Ability will be factored as well.  Typically, a certified OHSSA official will be assigned to work games with our Student Officials.  Student Officials will generally work games for the lower grades, 3rd – 5th.  Most games are on Saturday and Sunday.  Paychecks are mailed weekly, and should be recieved within a week of a game worked.

REQUIRED STUDENT OFFICIAL’S TRAINING COURSE (for non-certified officials)

*  Must attend BOTH required course dates. First session covers rules and the second is for floor mechanics and training.

*  Before the first session, you must complete the online concussion course.  Takes about 10-15 minutes.
See the Coaches Corner tab for a link to this course.

*  Purchase and wear an officials shirt for games and are available at the training sessions for a nominal charge.
